Stereotype?!

What is the stereotype means :

Based on the internet :

Stereotypes are as old as human culture itself. They reflect ideas that groups of people hold about others who are different from them.

A stereotype can be embedded in single word or phrase (such as, "jock" or "nerd"), an image, or a combination of words and images. The image evoked is easily recognized and understood by others who share the same views.

Stereotypes can be either positive ("black men are good at basketball") or negative ("women are bad drivers"). But most stereotypes tend to make us feel superior in some way to the person or group being stereotyped. Stereotypes ignore the uniqueness of individuals by painting all members of a group with the same brush.

Stereotypes can appear in the media because of the biases of writers, directors, producers, reporters and editors. But stereotypes can also be useful to the media because they provide a quick identity for a person or group that is easily recognized by an audience. When deadlines loom, it's sometimes faster and easier to use a stereotype to characterize a person or situation, than it is to provide a more complex explanation.

Based on my oppinion :

For me the stereotype is when the person look at others and reflect their perspective to the person in their own way itself. It comes with negative and positive oppinion towards the things out from their mind.

Take this as an example : Malay usually ate food with hands, English people used fork and spoon, to the old tipical native people, their first thought is, what is it using that thing to eat? We had our own tradition, Malay use hand, English use fork and spoon then same with others with their own culture. But in this 21st century, we can say almost all use fork and spoon to make it easier. Haha.

Stereotype can be useful in media so they can identify which good and which is just copy and paste from others. So we would know which one is his and hers idea or thought.

There are also some bad things for the stereotype people, such as they will only comments on bad thing much more than the positive thing. Not only the comment it, they also talks bad behind people and compare one person to another. This is not good for all of us.

Personal reflection in class :

There is no lecture for this week, so i guess, its just fine. I can relax and do other assignment in room. Hahahahahah!
